Mite-control claims versus reported results
The manufacturer markets ThermaHive as a mite-killing heat system. Its own 2026 field report gives a more limited picture:
- 51% average reduction per treatment (geometric mean; 95% confidence interval 31–65%), based on 49 paired mite washes on 16 colonies, measured 14–28 days after treatment.
- 14 of 55 paired washes increased rather than decreased.
- The advertised 84% seasonal reduction compares six research colonies with their own season peaks; it is not single-treatment efficacy.
- Zero losses among 20 treated colonies during the reported season does not establish mite elimination or overwinter survival.
Our assessment: These are disappointing single-treatment results for a system now priced at $749.99. They demonstrate a change in adult-bee mite-wash counts, not a directly measured percentage of all mites killed, and do not substantiate whole-colony mite elimination. The manufacturer identifies the report as its own field trial, not peer-reviewed research. V1-era results should not be presented as independently demonstrated V2 efficacy.

The original ThermaHive V1 is listed as sold out. ThermaHive V2 Complete Kit is available for pre-order at $749.99. The manufacturer states that V2 ships by January 2027, with free pickup also offered at NAHBE 2027. This is a pre-order shipping estimate, not immediate stock availability.
Earlier assessment images may describe V1 or earlier pricing. Do not assume that V1 field-test results establish V2 performance.
