Why Heat Can Kill Varroa Without Killing the Colony

Reviewed notes and corrections

Thermal treatment depends on both temperature and duration at the target tissue. Results from incubated brood or caged bees cannot automatically be applied to an entire hive. The sheet’s Ramsey 2019 citation concerns mite feeding on fat body, not the thermal-tolerance study described. Use Kablau’s actual thermal research for the two-hour brood experiment and distinguish juvenile mites from adult foundresses.
